Hope School of Nyangungu, Mutaho, Burundi
The Hope School of Nyangungu is a multi-ethnic school in rural Burundi where children, Batwa (pygmy), Hutu, and Tutsi, learn together and develop the skills necessary to become active members of their community. Since 2001 the Hope School of Nyangungu has provided education to over 500 Batwa and 363 non-Batwa children. The school has enabled some of Burundi’s most vulnerable children to have access to education giving them a chance to complete primary and secondary education and sit national exams leading to greater opportunities such as university and skilled employment.
